- (GEOM). Parte di retta compresa tra due dei suoi punti: lunghezza di un s., la distanza dei suoi estremi ║ S. circolare , la superficie compresa tra un arco di curva e la corda che ne congiunge gli estremi │ S. sferico , la parte di spazio compresa tra una porzione di superficie (convessa) avente il bordo sopra il piano, e il piano stesso.
