- Avoir failli + infinitif, avoir été sur le point de se produire ; avoir été sur le point de faire ou de subir quelque chose : L'accident a failli se produire. J'ai encore failli me tromper.
To have been almost infinitive, to have been about to happen; to have been about to do or to suffer something: The accident almost happened. I almost made a mistake again.
