- Pièce florale située au sommet de l'axe de la fleur et généralement soudée aux pièces homologues pour constituer le pistil, organe femelle contenant des ovules.(Un carpelle ressemble à une feuille rabattue de façon que ses bords, qui portent les ovules, se touchent et se soudent, entre eux ou à ceux de la feuille voisine.)
Floral part located at the top of the axis of the flower and usually welded to the homologous parts to form the pistil, a female organ containing eggs. (A carpel resembles a leaf folded down so that its edges, which carry the eggs, touch and weld together, either with each other or with those of the neighbouring leaf.)
