Apa itu myxomycetes?
- A class of peculiar organisms, the slime molds, formerly regarded as animals (Mycetozoa), but now generally thought to be plants and often separated as a distinct phylum (Myxophyta); essentially equivalent to the division Myxomycota. They are found on damp earth and decaying vegetable matter, and consist of naked masses of protoplasm, often of considerable size, which creep very slowly over the surface and ingest solid food.
Una classe d'organismes peculiars, els fongs llimosos, antigament considerats animals (micetozous), però ara generalment es creu que eren plantes i sovint separats com un fílum diferent (Myxophyta); essencialment equivalent a la divisió Myxomycota. Es troben en terres humides i matèria vegetal en descomposició, i consisteixen en masses nues de protoplasma, sovint de mida considerable, que s'arrosseguen molt lentament sobre la superfície i ingereixen aliments sòlids.
