Čo je dreamed?
- tr. Vedere o immaginare in sogno: ho sognato che scoppiava la guerra.
Tr. Seeing or imagining in a dream: I dreamed that war broke out.
- tr.(fig.). Immaginare che qcs., spec. di positivo, possa accadere: non avrei mai sognato che il mio ragazzo mi chiedesse di sposarlo ║ In frasi negative o interrogative, illudersi che qcs. di sperato possa verificarsi; anche tr. pron.: non ti sognerai mica di essere promosso? ║ In frasi esclamative, nella forma sognarselo , di qcs. che si desidera, averlo solo in sogno, non poterci contare né sperare: uno stipendio fisso se lo sogna!
tr.(fig.). Imagine that qcs., spec. of positive, could happen: I would never have dreamed that my boyfriend would ask me to marry him ║ In negative or interrogative sentences, delude oneself that qcs. hopefully it will occur; Also tr. pron.: Won't you dream of being promoted? ║ In exclamation phrases, in the form dreaming it , of qcs. that you want, to have it only in a dream, not being able to count or hope for it: a fixed salary if you dream it!

tr.(fig.). Prefigure in the mind qcs. that you crave: I have always dreamed of buying myself a boat.
- intr. Fare dei sogni durante il sonno: sogno tutte le notti.
Intr. Dreaming while sleeping: I dream every night.
- intr.(fig.). Guardare alla realtà in modo non realistico: guardati intorno e smetti di s. ║ S. a occhi aperti , fantasticare cose improbabili o irrealizzabili.
Intr. (fig.). Look at reality in an unrealistic way: look around and stop s. ║ S. with open eyes , fantasizing improbable or unrealizable things.
