- Unità fondamentale di misura di lunghezza (simbolo m ), corrispondente ca. alla quarantamilionesima parte del meridiano terrestre, da cui derivano l’unità di misura di superficie (metro quadrato : m 2 e anche mq ) e di volume (metro cubo : m 3 e anche mc ).
