What is coleòpters?
- An order of insects having the anterior pair of wings (elytra) hard and horny, and serving as coverings for the posterior pair, which are membranous, and folded transversely under the others when not in use. The mouth parts form two pairs of jaws (mandibles and maxillæ) adapted for chewing. Most of the Coleoptera are known as beetles and weevils.
Un ordre d'insectes que tenen el parell anterior d'ales (elytra) dures i banyuts, i que serveixen com a revestiments per a la parella posterior, que són membranes, i plegades transversalment sota les altres quan no s'utilitzen. Les parts bucals formen dos parells de mandíbules (mandíbules i maxil·lars) adaptades per mastegar. La majoria dels coleòpters es coneixen com escarabats i morruts.
