calypte-calypte: meaning, definitions and translations

A subgenus of humming-birds, the helmet hummers, having metallic scales on the crown as well as on the throat, and the gorget prolonged into a ruff. Two species, C. annæ and C. costæ, inhabit California and Mexico.
